Within the Sabatti Elite line of products, the new Oblivion rifle is a closed-action rifle designed specifically for F-Class competition shooting at the highest levels.
The heart of the Oblivion is the tried-and-tested Blizzard action, here mounted on a single-shot closed action, further enhancing its already excellent rigidity. The bolt offers a great fluidity, wear resistance, and robustness. The trigger is the highly regarded Sabatti Match three-lever trigger.
The Sabatti Oblivion rifle is equipped with a massive barrel with traditional rifling (not MRR), made by electrochemical erosion, a process with which Sabatti obtains superior results even compared to the single cut process always used on the most prestigious match barrels, as it allows for rifling with perfect and sharp edges both on the leading edge, on the trailing edge and in the negative angles of the rifling voids, together with a perfect surface right at the origin, for maximum precision.
The rifle is available in two versions:
The Oblivion F-Class TR, with a 760 mm / 30" tapered barrel and a 28 mm / 1.10" muzzle diameter, is threaded with a 1"-20 UNEF thread for mounting Eric Cortina-style tuning devices;
The Oblivion F-Class Open, with a 760 mm / 30" cylindrical barrel and a 31.75 mm / 1.25" muzzle diameter, is threaded with a 1"-20 UNEF thread for mounting Eric Cortina-style tuning devices.
But much of the innovation offered by the Sabatti Oblivion rifle lies in its stock. The action and barrel are in fact mounted on an innovative Sabatti chassis, characterized by a robust “Barrel Block” coupling system that allows the barrel and action to be kept floating inside the chassis, while at the same time allowing excellent heat dissipation thanks to its unique design, subject to international patent.
To this end, instead of the traditional 7075 aluminum alloy (Ergal), the chassis is constructed from an Anticorodal alloy. This alloy has a higher heat transfer coefficient than traditional Ergal, ensuring optimal heat dissipation from the critical area of the chamber and the forcing cone. This heat is transmitted from the barrel to the chassis via the Barrel Block, where it is dissipated internally through special radiating surfaces.
The unique design of the chassis and Barrel Block maintains a constant barrel temperature, cooling it with a very short transient between shots, to temperatures lower than those allowed by other solutions. This ensures both barrel times and the standard deviation between the first and last shots of a given series are uniform, thus improving shooting accuracy. All chassis accessories, such as the grip, adjustable cheek piece, and lower bag rider, are made of polymer.
